What is an “Elmer?”

In ham radio, an “Elmer” is an experienced amateur radio operator who mentors and helps a newer ham learn the hobby—everything from getting licensed and setting up equipment to operating etiquette and troubleshooting. In short: an Elmer is your ham-radio mentor.
