SPECIAL THANKS to Robert Fields, son-in-law of Bill Boyles, N6DS/K6DSK, SK, for the visit to our club on April 6, 2019. Mr. Boyles expressed the wish that his various remaining ham radio equipment including power supplies, cw keys, awards certificates, QSL cards envelopes/stamps from various countries, publications, memorabilia, special interest books, test equipment AND 12,000 vacuum tubes (!) be given to a local club for the members to take and enjoy. Every single one of the donated items was gratefully accepted — it was like Christmas in July!
Bill started his ham radio journey as a telegraph key operator for the Penn Central RR when only 7 years old. Throughout his life and as a ham radio operator he earned nearly every award available in the US and even some from abroad. We honor his military service during WWII (rifleman), Korea (radio operator) and Vietnam (SAC) and appreciate his most unexpected posthumous gifts of knowledge, equipment and experience as an amateur radio operator.
