Promoting Amateur Radio in the High Plains of Texas Through Education
W5WX – Amarillo, Texas
W5WX
The Panhandle Amateur Radio Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of the Amateur Radio hobby. Our mission includes education, fellowship with other panhandle operators, emergency preparedness and public service.
Our club is affiliated with the American Radio Relay League, Inc. — ARRL. Many of our members participate in the many exciting contesting opportunities sponsored by ARRL and other special interest groups. Amateur radio offers activities for any interest from CW to voice to digital — the possibilities are endless!
The Panhandle ARC meets the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 1900 Line Ave, Amarillo, TX, 79102. We cordially invite you to attend our meetings and join our club!
Our mailing address is:
PO Box 10221, Amarillo, TX 79116
Testing for licensing is offered after every regular club meeting. Contact John Laur, Testing Coordinator, for details and requirements. Testing is free and is offered through Laurel VEC.
From Georgia Street, turn east on Plains (the first street south of the old railroad bed). Plains will then become Line Avenue. Look for the antennas 🙂
When did you send out this flyer about the swapfest because I just got it today. Would have liked to known about it a couple weeks ago so I could have planned to drive up to Amarillo.
Sorry, Tim – would have liked to have met you – our flyer situation for next year has been corrected (this year’s volunteer didn’t get it done…). Please plan on the first weekend in May 2024 – our new location worked out wonderfully and we are working towards bigger and better. Also check our website or our Slack channel for the most up-to-date information. 73!

Interested in becoming licensed but not sure if you need a class first or when another testing event will take place.
