Panhandle Amateur Radio Club will once again provide communications for an upcoming mountain bike marathon. The Palo Duro Canyon Mountain Bike Marathon, part of the 2019 Hill Country Bicycle Works Texas Marathon Series, will be held November 9, 2019. As you can see from the provided map, a large area of the park will be utilized for the 3 laps, and as many operators as our club can provide will be needed. Race officials will be at each station and radio operators will provide communications from checkpoint stations back to net control. Operations will be similar to that of the USA Cycling Marathon back in May. Any technician level amateur radio operator with an VHF/UHF HT or mobile is qualified to serve as a checkpoint station, and we encourage everyone to come out and participate in this fun event.
Sign up at the club meeting October 5, 2019, or send info to Dan KF5JED, Race Communications Chairman on the form below — more details to follow!
Here’s a sample of the info you’ll be provided in the upcoming race. Check back often for specific information about the November Race and thanks for volunteering!!
