Ben Brinson, W2CYV, passed away July 25, 2018 after a brief battle with leukemia.  He was active in our club only a short time; however, from the time he joined until his illness, he was involved in any event that came up.  During van work days Ben would be the first one to show up and the last one to leave, lending his expertise with engines and helping out wherever he saw a need.  Ben enjoyed demonstrating on VHF for the school kids at Lamar in the mobile van during our first-ever Science Day there in 2017 and “had a blast” during the Route 66 On The Air event last September when he made 109 HF contacts during both weekends at the Adrian location.  During Route 66 he was most proud of the W6RO contact (Queen Mary in Long Beach, California) which his dad had also made “back in the day.”  He was very proud of his call sign which years earlier had been his dad’s.

Ben retired from Bell Helicopter and City of Amarillo.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, and is survived by son Lyle, daughter-in-law Michelle, grandchildren Josh and Hanna, and daughter Lori.

Services will be July 27, 2018 at 10:00 MT at the Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery in Tucumcari, NM.  Funeral arrangements are through Dunn Funeral Home in Tucumcari, NM.
